The information on this page covers the apps and ideas I planned to include in our discussion. I will update the material based on your questions and suggestions as soon after the session as possible.
With high quality cameras in practically every computing device in schools (including the ones in student pockets). They offer almost unlimited possibilities for classroom activities and student projects.
iMovie – probably the best video recording and editing application for iOS devices. Price: free with new iPad or iPhone; $4.99 otherwise. There are many other options but check to make sure they can import and export to the devices, applications, and services you need to use.

Stop Motion Studio – one of the best apps for recording and editing stop motion animation projects. Free with in-app purchases. Also available for Android, Windows Phone, Windows 8.1.

Explain Everything – the best screen casting app for iPad, allowing students to demonstrate and discuss their learning book reports, geography reports, explain processes in science or math. $2.99. Also available for Android and Windows 8.1

Voice Thread – a free app and web service for creating interactive presentations. Use requires an account for online storage, free for individuals and paid classroom and school levels.

Using those same devices, students can record audio and use many different apps to edit and use those recordings in a variety of learning projects.
Garageband – a general purpose music synthesizer and voice recorder. Very powerful but also can be a little complex without a basic understanding of music concepts. Free with new iPad or iPhone purchase and $4.99 otherwise.

Photo Sphere – a unique use of a phone or tablet camera, use this app to create immersive 360° panoramas similar to a single position in Google Street View. App is free for iOS and Android and the final results can be submitted to Google for inclusion on their Maps and Earth.

Comic Book – this app for iPad provides a variety of layouts to use in creating books similar in format to comic books. Price: $2.99.
Book Creator – probably the most popular app for creating digital books on a tablet. Combine images and text, then publish to a variety of sites, including the iBook Store. Price $4.99 for iPad or Android tablets.
WordPress – the Swiss army knife of web publishing. If you have a WordPress site set up for students to use, they can write, edit and post content from the WP app or from many others that will connect to a WP site. The app is free for iPad or Android but requires a self-hosted, or a WordPress.com or EduBlogs site.
Other Apps and Hardware
PhotoSync – very useful app for transferring photos and videos from a mobile device to computer and directly between devices. $2.99 for iOS and Android with free software for Mac and Windows.
Mirroring360 – with this app and a program on your computer, you can show the screens of up to four mobile devices on the computer (and then on a connected projector) over wifi. Software is $14.99 for Mac or Windows, with a free app for iOS or Android. A 7 day free trial is available.
Smartphone Tripod Mount – great for doing stop motion project but also can be used as a very low budget steady-cam for video. Square Jellyfish also makes a version for tablets and there are many alternatives available, both cheaper and more expensive.
Phone/Tablet microphones – again, there are many different options available. The one I use, the Apogee Mic, is somewhat expensive for the classroom. A good alternative is the iRig Mic, which also works with Android devices.
