check external links

GoLive can check the external links you are using in your site to find bad links for you.

  1. First, make sure your computer is connected to the internet.
  2. In your site window, click on the External tab and then on the folder next to New URLs. (If you don't see any external links listed, or not as many as you thought, start by cleaning up your site.)
  3. From the Site menu, select Check External Links.
  4. GoLive will test each of the URLs listed and will return a check mark if they are ?good? and a green bug if they are bad. Remember that a good report only means that there is a page at the other end of the address.
  5. For bad links, if you know the correct address, you can fix it without opening any pages. Simply click once on the globe icon at the left of the name, bring up the Inspector and make the correction in the Inspector. When finished, press Return or Enter and GoLive will ask if you want to update every page on which that URL is used. Click OK to make the change.
  6. You can also change the name of the page in the Inspector but this will not affect anything but the list of URLs in the Site window.
