Math and science teachers, take heart! Someone out there likes us.

A new set of recommendations from something called the Business-Higher Education Forum (“a group of business, foundation and higher education leaders”) wants higher salaries and better training programs.

That’s just two of the ideas in a proposal to deal with a shortfall of more than 280,000 math and science teachers in the US by the year 2015.

Shortage of math and science teachers? Higher pay? More incentives?

Where have we heard that before?

Oh, yeah! Same place, same time, almost the same people, every year for as long as I can remember.

I’m really lousy at predictions but this one’s a slam dunk.

The same proposal will be made again next year, with the same results as last year. And the year before. And the year before. And…

math education, science education, teacher salaries
