Just like the local mob, the Big Monopoly is thinking about charging for protection from itself. In the next month or so the company is planning on rolling out a new add-on to Windows that will detect and remove spyware. The same spyware that security holes in Windows allows into the system in the first place. And the best part is that the BM is considering charging for the protection in the future.
Microsoft’s disclosure that it may eventually charge extra for Windows protection reflects a recognition inside the company that it could collect significant profits by helping to protect its customers.
You just have to marvel at the sheer chutzpah!
