Madeline L’Engle died on Thursday and this appreciation at the Huffington Post is an excellent tribute to the author.
Her book, A Wrinkle in Time, is one that I vividly remember reading as a kid and one that I’ve read several more times as an adult (along with the not-as-good but still wonderful sequel A Swiftly Tilting Planet).
It’s too bad that when someone finally made it into a movie the result was flat, unimaginative, and poorly cast.
Fortunately, great storytelling survives bad movie making.
And L’Engle told great stories that will be charming kids well into the future.
