Political Educational Opportunities

Here in the overly-large school district the school board has a policy which says “School buildings and grounds may not be used for campaign activities during school hours”.

So why are McCain and Palin holding a campain rally at one of our high schools tomorrow morning during school hours?

According to our superintendent, “We are not participating in a political rally.”

Ok.  What do you call it?  “We are letting our kids have new educational opportunities.”

This rantfest is rated PG so I have no comment.

  1. I’m pretty sure I’d be just as ticked off if this were an Obama rally. I can’t believe we accept this as okay during school hours. If that doesn’t smack of an endorsement I don’t know what does.

If the article was about an Obama rally and our dear superintendent had made the same stupid comment, I would have written exactly the same post.

We should certainly help students learn about the campaign and the positions of the candidates. But setting them up as the backdrop for either side is incredibly irresponsible.
