Stupid observation: it’s hard to blog (or do many other things) when the hard drive crashes. As reliable as Macs are, a four year old, heavily used hard drive can still go south on you. However, I think I’ve managed to patch things up, so cross your fingers.

A couple of object lessons in all this. Backups really are a good thing. Many people I know recite that sermon but don’t follow their own preaching. And if you own a Mac, invest in a copy of TechTool Pro. The software took a long time to work it’s magic but it seems to have brought everything back from the dead.
