Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia built and maintained by its readers, has an outstanding section on the Sumatra earthquake and the resulting tsunami. The site includes the science behind the tragedy, including an animation of the progress of the wave, and articles that put the event in historical context.
They also link to many pictures that bring the reality of the events right in your face. Especially these incredible before and after aerial photographs of part of the city of Banda Aceh, a provincial capital of Indonesia. Certainly makes any problems I have seem very trivial.
