When the overly large school system I work for went looking for a new superintendent last spring, half the county wanted to have some input into who would get the job. The guy who was eventually hired came from another county in the DC area and now, of course, they are looking for a new head for their schools. But, it seems not many people are interested in the search.

At a forum Tuesday night to learn what qualities Frederick County wants in a new school superintendent, the consultants outnumbered the public 3 to 1. As in three consultants and one member of the public.

About 200 invitations were sent to local leaders, from school principals to police. The meetings were publicized in the media and at a school board meeting Sept. 22.

It’s nice to know that somewhere in this country, just about everyone is happy with the way their schools are run.
