In addition to the article I referenced in the previous post, this week’s Sunday Observer also has part two of an interesting series taking an inside look at British education. The newspaper asked six people involved in education to keep a diary of their experiences this fall as they begin a new phase of their life. Three are students from different backgrounds starting college. Two are teachers, one beginning his career, the other moving to a "challenging" inner city school. The sixth is a principal taking over at a successful "business academy". Part 1, published six weeks ago, is still available online.

Occasionally it’s a little difficult to understand the uniquely British situations they are facing but most of the time things will seem very familiar to anyone whose taught in or attended an American school.
