Some applicants to the public university right up the road from here are being given a pass on the SAT.

High school seniors with at least a 3.5 grade-point average and who are in the top 20 percent of their class won’t have to submit an SAT or ACT score with their application beginning this year, said dean of admissions Andrew Flagel.

This comes after a three year review which showed that “SAT scores are a poor indicator of collegiate success for high-achieving high school students”.

The College Board, creators and promoters of the test, say this study is all wrong. Did you expect a different response?

By the way, someone at the AP needs map reading lessons. George Mason University is NOT in McLean, Virginia.
