Breaking Down The Walls

I’ve ranted several times in this space about high schools being too segmented, with major subjects often taught in isolation. Jay Mathews has some good examples of how a growing number of high schools are cracking those barriers and are offering some interdisciplinary classes. I just wish it was more than just English and social studies. How about math and science or even English and science?

  1. Vito Prosciutto

geometry and sophomore english. Say it with me: Geometry and sophomore english!

  2. Tim

Geometry and sophomore english!! Great combo!

One year I got together with a science teacher and we crafted an Algebra II/Chemistry section. It fell apart after one year because the administration couldn’t easily work out the scheduling. I suspect they didn’t try too hard. :-)
