Recently large, prominently placed ads for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, the competing formats for “next generation” high definition DVD players, have been popping up around here.

But according to one writer, the war is over and both formats have already failed. He offers ten reasons why.

His logic makes a lot of sense and offers some excellent reasons to wait for what comes next.

However, I think he could have boiled down the list to just three.

Format Wars Don’t Sell Players.
HD DVD and Blu-ray are NOT Quantum Leaps in Technology.
Studios are Conservative, Greedy and Unmotivated.

Especially that last one.
