Now that the hyper-political roar over the fifth anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001 has largely passed, I have a request.
I’d like the talking heads channels and many other media outlets to stop using the phrase “attacks on New York, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania” (or words to that effect).
Nothing in Washington DC was attacked by terrorists on that date. No planes crashed, nothing major was destroyed.
For the geographically challenged, the Pentagon is in Arlington, Virginia. And the police, fire, and rescue personnel of that county at least deserve some simple acknowledgment for their part in the day’s events.
