Returning to the subject of students and cell phones, read Dan’s experience with the wonders of modern student communications at his school.

Dan knows all the details of a very brief fight that occurred at his school far from his classroom. Many of the students who witnessed the everts created cell phone videos and quickly passed them around, with several posted on YouTube.

He says that it’s no exaggeration to say that every student at the school has seen at least one of the videos.

Have you noticed that kids have become very skilled reporters and story tellers using these devices? Unfortunately, too many of their pieces, like this fight, are very negative images.

It’s time we develop ways to incorporate cell phone cameras (and the other banned electronic devices kids carry every day in-spite of the rules) into teaching students how to communicate interesting, positive, and instructional ideas instead.
