China is worried about the increase of online gaming in that country. Actually, they have two concerns in that area.

On one hand, leaders don’t like that they aren’t getting a cut of the $500 million that will be spent by Chinese gamers this year. So, the government plans to invest almost $2 billion on developing it’s own gaming industry

At the same time, they’re concerned about the amount of time players are spending on the games. For that officials are now trying to regulate how long people will be allowed to play and have even opened an internet addiction center.

So the same government actively encouraging home-grown gaming is, somewhat schizophrenically, drawing the conclusion that the online gamers themselves should be regulated.

Talk about competing interests.
