When it comes to serious education reform in this country, most of our politicians would rather dwell on the trivialities.

The latest evidence comes from legislators in my home state. (Even worse, the sponsor is from my home town. Sob!)

A proposed law that would help to ensure an American flag flies in Arizona public schools classrooms from kindergarten through college levels received a final nod in the state Senate on Thursday. Senators voted to put flags in legislative hearing rooms, too.

This measure will, of course, instantly improve the reading abilities and math skills of every student exposed to the magic healing power of the stars and stripes.

There must be more important things for these guys to spend their time on.

school, flag, trivialities
