That’s not a metaphysical question. Every year the overly-large school district for which I work assembles every school administrator, plus most of us working in central office, in one place for a school year kickoff. Two days of it. And I get to sit through all of it (with very limited wireless).
The affair is called a "leadership" conference and it wouldn’t be so bad if the program was actually focused on building leadership skills. But most of this is more like a pep rally with lots of talk and very little substance. It was hard to keep up with all the cliches and tired jokes recycled by the keynote speaker this morning.
Well, I think I’ve put in enough time at this. I’m heading out the back door to go do some real work.
