Anyone who earns money in the US knows what today is. Just turn on your local news and watch the reporter doing a standup in front of the post office. April 15th has become synonymous with taxation and all the other stuff (bad and otherwise) that goes with it. But a writer in the Christian Science Monitor has found a much more positive way to look at this date. Today, April 15th, is the anniversary (1947) of Jackie Robinson’s first game as a major league baseball player. Certainly better than February 3, 1913 – the date the 16th amendment to the Constitution was ratified.
