Dave Sifry, founder and CEO of Technorati, has posted his quarterly State of the Blogosphere.

Basically, the news is that nothing’s very different from his previous report. Or the two or three before that.

Technorati is now tracking more than 57 million blogs, although only about 55% are “active”, which he defines as updated at least once in the last three months. (Not what I would call active.)

About 100,000 new weblogs joined the masses in the past quarter, down slightly from previous quarters.

The most interesting part of all this is that only 39% of all blog posts are English language, followed closely by Japanese. This is indeed a global conversation, even if some of us can’t read that other 61%.

Anyway, for those fans of statistics, Dave has a bunch to pour over.
