Something is really out of whack with the US trademark and patent system. Following on the revelation that some idiot claims to own trademarks on the phrase "freedom of expression" and the term "stealth", it seems the Big Monopoly wants to take that one better.

The folks in Redmond think they own the rights to emoticons. You know, those smiley faces :-) and other little combinations of characters used to convey some kind of emotion in the sterile world of all text messages. This would be funny if it wasn’t a new low in stupidity.

I think I’ll apply to trademark the term "stuff". I use the word all the time. I’ve owned this domain for at least five years.

Ok. All of you are on notice. Use the word stuff™ in any way and I want my license fees! :-)
