Opening next week, the Creation Museum, an amusement park that seems even more divorced from reality than Disneyland.
This is a place where the earth is only 6000 years old, men and dinosaurs once lived together, and concept of evolution just ceases to exist.
For the skeptic the wonder is at a strange universe shaped by elaborate arguments, strong convictions and intermittent invocations of scientific principle. For the believer, it seems, this museum provides a kind of relief: Finally the world is being shown as it really is, without the distortions of secularism and natural selection.
All of this in a slick package “stunningly designed” by the same guy who put together the King Kong and Jaws rides for Universal Studios.
However, if you think I’d like to see this monument to “intelligent” design become extinct, you’d be wrong.
This puts on public display exactly the kind of pseudo-scientific crap that the ID crowd – including our current president and some of his potential heirs – wants included in the K12 curriculum.
The park is exhibit A for the fact that ID (the better looking twin of creationism) has no place in the science classroom.
