One of the best television reports on how the federal government has been allowing power companies to avoid cleaning up their coal fired plants is one that relatively few people will see.

It’s on HBO. And it’s on a sports program.

The ostensible starting point for this story on the current edition of Real Sports is the growing number of children/athletes who suffer from asthma caused by pollutants from power plants.

But the piece does a great job of investigating the evasion of clean air requirements by power companies, and the support provided by administrations of both parties, over the past thirty years.

It’s excellent journalism of the type that the network news operations should be doing.
